This job was an immaculate stone farmhouse that needed a master suite. The customer requested that an existing attic be converted to usable space rather than increasing the footprint of the building, which was already confined by the road, the pool and many large, ancient trees.

SunPower dormered the entire rear roof of the house to prevent altering the street facing façade and scaffolding was erected at the rear of the house for work platforms and access to the attic without entering the house. This kept us out of the house, allowing the customers to go about their daily lives without intrusion.

The master bath features bead board wainscoting and a shower of exposed, sealed stone walls. The attic flooring was patched and finished using matched, salvaged materials from Sunpower Builders’ inventory. Bead board closets create a division between closet/dressing areas and the main bedroom space. Plaster walls, refurbished attic windows of high quality, true divided light wood, and custom trims and millwork complete the unique appearance of this project.

Energy efficient features include insulating all areas to maximum levels and a separately zoned heating and cooling system with an electronic setback thermostat.
